ThisThat Gallery was founded in 2023 as a nomadic exhibition program and established its permanent space at Hansaallee 22, formerly the studio of Professor Rita McBride, in 2024. Led by curator Li/Yang, the gallery operates between Germany and China, fostering critical dialogue and experimental contemporary art practices. Its curatorial approach navigates the intersections of contemporary art and interdisciplinary inquiry, engaging with architecture, philosophy, and social theory. Dedicated to emerging voices and overlooked artistic practices, the gallery integrates academic research, devoting a third of its exhibitions to historically and theoretically grounded projects.Positioned between the European and East Asian art landscapes, ThisThat Gallery reimagines the gallery's role through a flexible and in-depth curatorial model, fostering artistic discourse and conceptual transformation.
